Sourdough Melt Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • Sourdough Boule from La Bella Vita Bakery
  • 16 oz Fresh Mozzarella from Curds and Whey RVA
  • Living Basil from Babylon Micro Farms
  • Beefsteak Tomatoes from Sion House Farm
  • Spring Garlic from Flores Farm
  • Roasted Red Peppers from Curds and Whey RVA

 

Directions: 

  • Take two slices of your sourdough bread, and layer the fresh mozzarella, basil, tomatoes, spring garlic, and roasted red peppers.
  • Heat the olive oil in a medium pan over medium high heat. When the pan is hot, add the sandwich and toast each side for about 3-5 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

OR

  • In a food processor combine:
    • Cluster tomatoes- at least 3 tomatoes, remove the core and cut into quarters
    • Spring Garlic- trim ends from the bulb and remove the thin outside skin (can use about 2 inches of the stem)
    • 1 Roasted Red Pepper
    • 1/4 cup of the Olive Oil in the container
    • 1 tsp Salt and Black Pepper
  • Pulse until all are combined, use as the spread on your melt!
